K9 Officer

Officer Bio

My name is Officer Stoneking. I have been a first responder since I was 15-years old. I started by volunteering for the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol while I was in high school. After graduating from high school, I earned my EMT certification and worked for a private ambulance company in the Denver Metro. I eventually became a firefighter and paramedic on the western slope. I have always been interested in law enforcement and eventually decided to “change teams” in 2021. I have been a member of the Littleton Police Department since 2022.

After graduating from the Highlands Ranch Law Enforcement Training Academy, I was assigned to the same team that Officer Choate and K9 Bandit were on. Seeing how valuable of a resource K9 Bandit was to the department made me want to become the next handler for the agency. As soon as I was able, I began to go to the monthly K9 trainings and became a certified chew toy (decoy) for Bandit. Eventually, I was selected to be the next K9 handler, and I was matched with my partner, K9 Mikko, in January 2025.

K9 Mikko is the ultimate crime fighting tool, and I am lucky to have him as my partner. I know that the community, and the department are safer because of K9 Mikko. I grateful for the Friends of Littleton K9 because without them, the K9 program wouldn’t be possible.

K9 Bio

K9 Mikko is a 2-year-old German Sheppherd Belgian Malinois mix. He was born on November 11, 2023, in Budapest, Hungary.

K9 Mikko was picked up from Gold Coast K9 on January 6, 2025. After completing his training, he was certified through the CPCA (Colorado Police Canine Association) for both patrol work and narcotic detection. K9 Mikko assists officers with searching buildings, catching fleeing suspects, and sniffing vehicles during traffic stops to look for the odor of illegal narcotics (Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Heroin).

K9 Mikko loves to work, especially when he gets to use his nose. When he is not at work, K9 Mikko loves to spend time with his family, play fetch, play tug, and take long naps. He is a very social dog who loves to get ear and butt scratches. Since K9 Mikko is the youngest dog that the Littleton Police Department has ever owned, he will be able to serve the community for many years to come!
